Good News Updates!

Well, today is Saturday! Last week was Nathan's first day in service! We had a good time. I don't think I got much accomplished, but there wasn't much I could do. He got really hungry in the middle of it, and I fed him at Midtown, but I didn't want to be there too long doing that so I cut it a bit short. I'm still a little weird about feeding him in public, even though I cover up. Turned out I cut him off too soon and he got really fussy, so after a bit, I asked to be dropped off home and he was super hungry, so my suspicions were correct. For those of you wondering, we were going to go to meeting last Thursday, but one of us got pretty sick so we couldn't make it. I was going to go to the assembly today, but we don't really have bottle feeding down yet, so it really couldn't be done, and really, I don't want to wake up before the sun on a sleepless night and spend a full day with no rest and then see Daniel's family tonight...long day! So I'm glad I'm staying home. Expect to see us Tuesday!

Nathan is officially one month old (and a week)! He's getting so big. He's looking around more and more every day, and two times this past week, he's woken up at night and been very Awake, looking around, wanting us to walk about. He can hold his head up most of the time now! How soon is too soon for tummy time??

So good news on the apartment front! Our 30 days notice ran out on the 24th. I was pretty stressed about getting an apartment and cleaning the old one by the deadline, and even three days beforehand nothing worked out. However! Leah came over Wednesday and helped me finish the bathroom that I had started cleaning, so the bathroom/hallway was done! And John and Simone came by Thursday to help pack and clean, and we finished the walls and carpet. Point of interest, John has a miracle solution for marks on walls. Thank you to all three of them! And thank you to Leah's family for letting us have her time that evening! We totally appreciate everything you guys did! So most of our things are at my parents' house in Walterville right now.

We had an almost guarantee for an apartment in the Barger area, but someone put in an application (and was approved) like hours before we did. We'd been holding on to an application for a very nice place on Arthur and 17th place which we had labeled as "end game" housing, but not something we were going to try for now, but as a last go, we turned it in. We were going to apply for a one bedroom, which was going for a manageable price, but still the highest we would go. The lady at the desk said that all the one bedrooms had applications in, but the two bedrooms were free. I had remembered that the two bedrooms were a bit high for price, so I said no right away, but on further examination, we noticed that some of them were, but the two bedroom fourplex was only 50$ more than the one bedroom (the two bedroom duplex was 80 more, so not doable). After looking at the floorplan, we applied for the two bedroom. It's...awesome. It's very very nice, and all the two bedrooms are ground floor, and the most neighbours we will have are three, because it's a block of four.

We prayed about it a lot, and we think this is where Jehovah wants us, but if not, we will keep looking! It's close to every part of town (except N Eugene areas), within biking distance of the kingdom hall, right by the Amazon Creek and Amazon/Fern Ridge bike pat, and it's close to the Albertsons there. I'm hoping and praying that we will be approved for it, and more importantly, that we'll be able to manage rent that's 200$ more than what we were paying on 4th, but this will be a very good exercise in keeping a simple eye. True, it's upsizing from what we had, but we will need a two bedroom for Nathan pretty soon. He's going to outgrow his little co-sleeper, and once that happens, we'll stop bedsharing and ease him into his own room! On that note, thank you to Great Uncle and Aunt Horowitz for buying us a crib! This is far more generosity than I had expected from anyone! Thank you very much! We'll set the crib up right away upon entering our new place whenever that is!

I think that covers most everything. Grandma and Grandpa Morgan are flying in tonight and we'll see them this week! Hopefully we will get the call from the apartment complex this week so we can move in as soon as possible!

Monday is the baby shower that his grandparents are throwing, so anyone who has access to this blog is welcome to drop by! It's going to be at my parents' house (text me for the address and directions) and it's an "open house" drop in between 2 and 6. I'll see everyone Tuesday for our circuit overseer's visit, and hopefully us two will be able to make it out in service this week! I'd like to start making Saturdays again, and as soon as we're located in town, I can!

First bathtime!

He's grown the habit of grabbing any long hair he can. Long-haired people beware!

First day out in service!
