Eventful Week

Phew! What a week! Daniel's parents flew in Saturday, so we had a pretty busy time. Monday was the baby shower that our moms threw for us. It was pretty cool. Lots of people and delicious food. Thank you Great Aunt and Uncle Horowitz for buying Nathan a crib/bed! All we have left to get now is the mattress for it!

More details on last week and also many pictures will come in a few days. Right now the internet is Daniel's phone/wifi hotspot so picture uploading is pretty much impossible unless I want to relive my dial-up days.

I'll just skip to the good news! Tuesday was Nathan's first meeting day! He did well! I had to get up a few times to keep him happy/occupied and didn't hear much, but what I did hear was good. :) I especially appreciated the part in the Circuit Overseer's talk about how you're not worthless, and that's a lie. Jehovah gave his son for you personally, so you're worth it. It was just what I needed to hear. Thursday night was just as good, except that Nathan got a bit of gas stuck in his tummy. We spent most of the meeting trying to get him to burp it up. One of our friends recommended to us something called gripe water. I had never heard of it, but both Wednesday and Thursday he had been crying terribly (Wednesday for almost two hours nonstop). I was hoping we wouldn't have to try it, but we took note anyway.

So the week before last we had dropped in our application to the Arthur street apartments. They had been dragging their feet getting the applications processed, and we applied on a holiday weekend, so Wednesday Daniel called, and they were waiting on our background checks, and they had the wrong number for our previous property manager. They call back Thursday because they couldn't verify my job, so we had to go into my work and fax them pay stubs. This is harder than it sounds. Since I'm on a leave of absence (LOA), I wasn't able to get into the system to access my pay stubs, and no one could do it for me, so the personnel lady activated me, put me on the clock and accessed the system under my log in. We printed them out, and she took me off the clock, and deactivated me. What an ordeal. While I was there, I arranged the rest of my vacation pay for the LOA. We got the call Friday! Awesome news, we were approved for a two-bedroom four-plex. So it's like a duplex, but there are two on top of us. We have our own number! No Apt #whatever!

We are located around W18th and Arthur. Close to the Kingdom Hall, out of the Whiteaker, close to grocery stores, closer to work, and it has a gym. We consider it an actual house (with our own number of course!). The walls are thick enough where you can't hear anything from the other side (or I haven't). We got an amazing move-in deal of 200$ off our first month's rent, and since the one we rented is right next to construction (they're building another four-plex unit), they gave us another 200$ off rent!

It feels so good to be back in town, and I'm pumped to start exercising again. The only thing we really need right now is the Burley snuggler, and we're planning on buying this as soon as possible. It's the only way we'll be able to get Nathan in the trailer while he's so young. As a point of interest for those worriers out there, on my facebook page, you'll find my opinion of trailer safety, and since I linked to the Burley website, check out their safety ratings. The item description here says recommended age  6+ months, but that's behind a bicycle. We're planning on following all safety suggestions for the trailer, but until then, it is suitable as a jogger, and he is old enough to be pushed in it. This seat is essential for transporting him in the jogger. It's not just a little foam thing (and car seat head cushion add ons will not work), it's a soft car seat for a bike, and without it, I am not comfortable having him in the jogger/trailer, just as I would not be comfortable having him behind a bike without a helmet. Think of this comparison. A car seat head cushion is to this as bubble wrap is to a helmet. I think I've made my point.

Anyhow, more information will come in the next few days!
